When I was wee squiggly girl I had a bear named Ted. I had a very strong suspicion that every time I turned my back to Ted, he'd get up, stretch his legs and sit back down again before I saw him. I knew he was alive, for how could he not be? He always had good advice when I needed it. He was my best friend and constant companion no matter what. He gave me strength in the most frightening of times.
Twenty years have passed and the sight of Ted on my shelf still fills me with courage. The special magic of handmade dolls, teddies and blankies lives on and I consider it a blessing and great service to create soft friends which go out into the world to inspire a little imagination and courage - for people of all ages. It is common in our modern times to feel overwhelmed, disconnected and uncentered, and this is one small creative endeavor to help bring us home to ourselves.
